Mighty To Save

A beautiful Christian Song that my heart bespeaks of right now - this is how I feel right now for all the blessings that God is giving me - He is so faithful, a Miracle Working God - He never fails:

MIGHTY TO SAVE

Everyone needs compassion,
Love that's never failing;
Let mercy fall on me.

Everyone needs forgiveness,
The kindness of a Saviour;
The Hope of nations.

Saviour, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.

Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

So take me as You find me,
All my fears and failures,
Fill my life again.

I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in,
Now I surrender.

My Saviour, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

Shine your light and let the whole world see,
We're singing for the glory of the risen King...Jesus (x2)

My Saviour, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

My Saviour, you can move the mountains,
You are mighty to save,
You are mighty to save.
Forever, Author of Salvation,
You rose and conquered the grave,
Yes you conquered the grave

Food Service

Just want to share with you types of food service management  I know that I'd usually encounter in my events:

  1. AMERICAN SERVICE - Food is plated in the kitchen and then served to seated guests
  2. BUFFET - Guests help themselves from large displays of food
  3. BUTLERED SERVICE - Servers mingle, offering trays of hors d'oeuvres or drinks
  4. FAMILY STYLE - Guests help themselves to large servings of food placed on the table
  5. FOOD STATIONS - Different types of cuisines are divided into several themed locations (i.e. sushi, crepes, tapas) in a reception area; promotes mingling
  6. FRENCH SERVICE - A waiter serves each guest individually from a tray held by another waiter; special equipment such as a gueridon (wheeled cart) and rechaud (heating unit) is sometimes used
  7. RUSSIAN SERVICE - Similar to French service, but waiters hold trays of food in one hand and serve guests with the other
Well, for weddings, the most common would usually be American Service, Russian Service and Buffet Service.

Buffet Service Style

Russian Service

American Service

Here in the Philippines, the most common would  be BUFFET SERVICE for the guests and RUSSIAN SERVICE for the Principal Sponsors/ VIP (this is also known as plated service or sit down).

So there, happy learning folks!

Portico De Cecilia - wedding venue

I've known Cecille from Plaza Ibarra Garden in Timog Avenue as one of the Events Account Executive there and then I found out she's no longer with Ibarra's and has set up her own wedding and party venue in Cavite - PORTICO DE CECILIA

Strategically situated in Kawit Cavite, Portico de Cecilia is a unique, refreshing, green and posh Garden social venue which can hold up to 1,500 people. Boasting of its remarkable space and refreshing ambiance, Portico de Cecilia have four distinctive spaces best to create that magnificent ambiance - the Garden, with plenty of flowers and foliage for that charming and enchanting feel; the Poolside, best for summer themed event, evokes calm and romance; the Pavilion and the Greenhouse, brings out a feeling of nostalgic extravagance.

More of the events/reception venue it offers - it also offers swimming pool and catering services.    This would be a good option for brides/grooms living in the south or those couple looking for a new and reception garden venue.

Contact Cecille at 046-4387593 and learn more about Portico De Cecilia.

We Love PHOTOBOOTH!!!

Most of our clients now would avail of photobooth as their main souvenir - less cost on their part and the guests truly enjoy it (evidently, we  Filipinos love posing and even making different faces in front of a camera).

The following pictures are proof that YOUR EVENTS love PHOTOBOOTHS!

Right now there are over 60 photobooth suppliers (or i guess more)  that clients can choose from -so  it's just up to them what really matters - would that be cost, quality, freebies,  years in the business etc.  So I'm making this prediction Photobooth would still be the "IN THING" in 2011 and I guess even in 2012.  We'll see.  Let's just enjoy

A MAY 10 opinion of a wedding coordinator

Your Events taking a break from all the wedding events...

Will vote later - NOYNOY for PRESIDENT - I consider him the Philippine's Saving Grace. I don't need a president with a harvard degree, I don't need a president who owns a billion account, I don't need a president of the masses, I don't need a president who can transform the phils - I just need SOMEONE who will unify the Philippines just like what NINOY and CORY did .... Go Noynoy!!!

But I'm still torn between BINAY and ROXAS for VP ...

but will definitely vote for MAYOR LIM and ISKO MORENO ...

Bonding Time = Movie Time

Today is quality time for my one and only Gabriel and of course together with my "Neyko".

After 2 meetings today, we're going out to watch the long-awaited movie IRON MAN 2 (Gab has been waiting for this ever since we bought him his t-shirt).

You should see the look on his face today (he's sooo excited and uber-to-the max thrilled). And this is one day worth all my energy and time. I'm excited as well - I have always loved Robert Downey Jr.- his acting and charisma on screen and being the movie fanatics that we are, we surely won't miss this one.

So just a break from the usual wedding and events stuff that I do for my blog - let me just share with you a little bit about Iron Man - Enjoy!

Iron Man is a fictional superhero who appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character debuted in Tales of Suspense 39 (March 1963 ), and was created by writer-editor Stan Lee (the genius!), scripter Larry Lieber, and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby.

Born Anthony Edward "Tony" Stark , he is an industrialist playboy and genius engineer who suffers a severe heart injury during a kidnapping in which his captors attempt to force him to build a massively destructive weapon. He instead creates a powered suit of armor to save his life and escape captivity. He later decides to use the suit to protect the world as Iron Man.

So that's it... Gotta go, folks, need to go to the movie house! See you all!

Cheers!

All about CALLA LILIES

Calla Lilies are very popular for wedding bouquets as they signify magnificence and beauty.

I'd like to say that they are one of the most beautiful flowers with a unique form. Based on my research they also come by other names such as arum lily, trumpet lily, pig lily. Though called a lily, Calla Lilies are not really lilies. They are excellent houseplants, best for beds, borders, bouquets and flower arrangements.

Some interesting facts about calla lilies:
- they have long-petioled, basal leaves arising from a thick rhizome
- calla lily is a perennial bulb
- It is a flowering genus of twenty-eight species originating in Africa and growing mostly in marshy areas
- Blooming time of Calla Lilies is late spring
- The word Calla comes from the Greek Term for "beautiful"
- The Calla Lily roots are poisonous

Many of my brides client would prefer calla lilies (much prettier than roses they say as wedding bouquet and much affordable from tulips). I like the color yellow and white the most - it perfectly exemplify the magnificence and beauty of the flower.

I also learned that calla lilies come in mini and regular/large size.

The regular/large sized callas only grow in 2 colors - the Classic Large White or the Green Goddess. They have really large blooms on very tall, sturdy, thick stems.

All other callas are called "mini" callas. Within the Mini Callas, there are 2 stem heights - premium stem height and extra tall stem height. The stems are thinner and the flowers are more delicate and smaller.

So which can be recommended for a bridal bouquet? The answer would be mini calla lilies. For a bridal bouquet, 30-40 callas would do for a nice, full and lush bridal bouquet (although some would also use the large classic ones ranging around 30pcs).

Calla Lilies also work as boutonnieres specifically the mini callas.

Another thing that brides and grooms should know is that calla lilies don't really have an association with a particular season. The brightly colored mini callas (like pink, yellow, lavender) are more popular in the Spring and Summer, and the large white and darker colored calla lilies (orange, purple, black/ deep purple) are more popular in Fall and Winter.

Wedding Music: Cake Cutting Songs

From my previous blog post, I was discussing about the symbolism of Cake Cutting Ceremony.  To complement that post let me share with you some Cake Cutting Songs that bride-groom can choose from.

You may opt for the Traditional Cake Cutting Songs or you can also choose the contemporary ones or even fast/upbeat songs that should be reflective of both of your personalities - you can be as funky and different as you want to be.  So it's up to you:

I have here some list of songs (personal songs I've chosen that can be used for the ceremony):

- Grow Old With You by Adam Sandler (the most popular of all)
- How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You by James Taylor
- Love by Natalie Cole
- Tonight I Celebrate My Love by Roberta Flack
- Saving Forever by Shanice
- Sugar, Sugar by Archies
- How Deep is Your Love by Bee Gees
- Somebody by Depeche Mode
- Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics
- Cruisin by Huey Lewis Featuring Gwyneth Paltrow
- Everything I own by N'Sync
- This I Promise You by N'Sync
- I'm a Believer by Smash Mouth
- Sweetest Thing by U2
- Love is All Around by Wet Wet Wet
- 1234 by Plain White T's
- Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion
- Build Me Up Buttercup by The Foundations
- Celebration by Kool & The Gang
- Happy Together by Turtles
- Ice Cream by Sarah Mclahlan
- Theme from Friends by The Rembrandts
- Underneath It All by No Doubt
-Wishin and Hopin by Ani Difranco
- You are my number one by Smash Mouth

And of course, there are thousand of songs to choose from - it's just up to the couple what they prefer.  Any song can be your cake cutting song - it doesn't necessarily mean that the word "cake" should be there but the sweetness and of course the reflection of the couple's personality.

The Cake Cutting Ceremony

The Cake Cutting Ceremony is a time-honored tradition for the bride and groom to share as they demonstrate their commitment to support one another. Whenever I do hosting for my events I’d always say that this is highly anticipated in the wedding reception as it creates a nostalgic moment that symbolizes the first time the newlywed couple breaks bread as husband and wife, and it also demonstrates their pledge to support and nourish one another.

Depending on the type of the wedding reception, the cake cutting may take place either early or during the latter part of the program. If this is done on the first part of the program – I’d always say that this would be the first task that the newlywed couple will perform as husband and wife. After the cake cutting, it will be followed by the Ceremonial Toast and The Couple’s First Dance.

Another fun part of the ceremony is how the cake is cut – because it can a tricky task. Just as every wedding cake is unique, every first cut will also be different – there also goes a symbolism of the purpose of the cake cutting.

As a wedding coordinator and host, I make it a point to keep my bride-groom informed of what the symbolism of this ceremony and what are the things that they should consider.

Remember!

1. Listen to your photographer – Cake Cutting is a highly photogenic moment and your wedding photographer will ask you to cut a particular layer of the cake that will work best for the photos.

2. Work Together – the groom’s hand should be over the bride’s as the first slice of the cake is cut to show how they will work together in their marriage.

3. Use a serving set – a decorative cake serving set has both a knife and server that are lovely utensils for this important event. For a military wedding, a sword may be used instead of a knife.

4. Feed each other first – gently feeding one another the symbolic first bite of cake is a lovely tradition that symbolizes the nurturing relationship the new husband and wife share.

5. Offer slices to in-laws – the couple may choose to cut additional slices of cake to offer their respective in-laws; this shows the connection between two families and is a delicious way to show respect to one another’s families.

Originally, wedding cakes were called bride cakes.  So this means that bride is not just the center of attraction in a wedding, but it creates a link between the bride and the cake.  Lucky for us =)

But whatever symbolism we think of the Cake Cutting Ceremony we should always remember that Wedding is a commitment to share whatever path life takes you on, with love and devotion, and the shared cutting of the first slice represents this commitment.  Sharing of the cake to each other symbolizes your vows which means to love, honor and respect one another.

So, to sum it all up, the cake cutting ceremony is just a tiny part of two people as ONE facing life's journey together.
